Centaur Records CD Release of Dance Suites & Sonatas of Jean-Fery Rebel by Eco dell’Anima (Jeanne Johnson, Baroque violin; Brent Wissick, viola da gamba; Peter Marshall, harpsichord), June 2016

American Record Guide’s review: “…this is the first complete recording of the three Rebel dance suites from the 1705 collection. Ms. Johnson plays with all the control of ornamentation and phrasing one would expect in the French repertoire. Her continuo support is also sensitive to her interpretation, both in how Wissick mirrors her melodic gestures and in Marshall’s idiomatic realization of the figured bass… The subtleties of Rebel’s writing benefit from Johnson’s restrained approach… This new release would be a significant addition to any serious collection of French baroque music.”

University of North Georgia Nix Living Heritage Series Concert by Soulfire (Jeanne Johnson, Baroque violin; Joanna Blendulf, viola da gamba; Andrew Santander, harpsichord), February 17, 2016
