Jeanne’s private studio is located in north metro Atlanta. She works with intermediate & advanced students, specializing in advanced high school students.

Jeanne Johnson served on the faculty of Clayton State University for eight years, and has also taught at The Paideia School and in the Cobb County school system.  She has had a full private studio for over twenty years.  Jeanne disagrees with the perception of classical music as formal, stiff and boring, but believes instead that it is an outlet for fun, for emotional expression and healing, and for growth in self-worth and awareness.  She honors students’ goals and creates an environment that is safe, nurturing and respectful.  Jeanne likes to challenge and stretch students, but gently and in ways that make them excited to learn and grow.  She loves nothing more than helping students surprise themselves by growing beyond their own self-concepts!  Her students regularly become members of All-State Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, Governor’s Honors Program, and concertmasters and section leaders of their top high school orchestras.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

“After 4 years of private instruction with Ms. Jeanne Johnson, I can say that I have taken my violin playing to a whole new level thanks to her. When I first contacted Ms. Johnson, all I wanted was to be able to play a little better. She went above and beyond my request. I went from being a last row violin player to an All-State player, member of the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra and concertmaster of my high school orchestra. Ms. Johnson is one of the finest instructors if you are looking to take your violin playing to another level!” – Sebastian Fernandez, All-State Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, Concertmaster of top Alpharetta High School Orchestra

“Ms. Johnson has helped me reach new levels of playing and accomplish things that I never thought I could accomplish. In the last year alone, I got into All-State Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, and served as concertmaster in my school orchestra. Ms. Johnson always knows exactly what I need to work on and does an amazing job explaining new techniques and concepts to me. Now that I’m a senior, I can definitely say that I feel prepared for college music!” – Cindy Chen, All-State Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, River Ridge High School Orchestra Concertmaster

“Ms. Johnson is a great teacher who creates a positive and effective learning atmosphere! She is immensely dedicated to helping students achieve their goals. I learn so much during lessons, which are always productive and fun.” – Lillie Zhou, All-State Orchestra

“I have had an amazing time learning from Ms. Johnson. Every week she teaches me new ways to improve, but she also encourages me. She’s very knowledgeable about preparing her students for auditions and has helped me to do well in them. Because of her teaching, I have improved my skills and enjoy playing the violin more.” – Sarena Tseng, Statewide Honor Orchestra, Concertmaster of top Chattahoochee High School Orchestra

“I have learned so much from Ms. Johnson — of course about the violin, but also about important life skills and lessons like self-alignment.  She has been so supportive of me during the time I have spent with her.   I feel like I have improved tremendously under her guidance, just going for things out of my comfort zone.  She has helped me appreciate music and become the best violin player I can be.  I am so glad to have her as my teacher!” – Lexi Fisher

“Ms. Johnson is the most amazing teacher I’ve ever had.  I know she will stick with me no matter what.  She really has changed my life for the better!” – Alexis Powers, Dekalb School of the Arts
